The Brooklyn based artist Alyson Shotz is the Fall 2013 Artist in Residence at UT’s Visual Arts Center.  She will create and have on display a site-specific work entitled Invariant Interval in the Visual Arts Center Gallery from September 27 – December 7, 2013.  Shotz uses materials such as plastic, beads, staples, Q-tips and surgical wire to create sculptures that reflect and change with their surroundings.  She also repurposes her sculptures by photographing and then digitally manipulating these images into new works of art.  To see more examples of Shotz’s work, view images by her on DASe at and also from catalogs in the Fine Arts Library such as  Geometry of light: exhibition by Alyson Shotz, September 10th to December 25th, 2011, N 6537 S536 A4 2011
