We’re happy to announce the installation of the first of two Knowledge Imaging Center (KIC) Scanner stations in the PCL Periodical Room. These scanners allows you to quickly and easily scan an item and then either save the file to a USB/Flash drive or email the file to yourself or others.
Read the information from the scanner’s How Do I? entry below. Expect to see more of these stations rolled out in PCL and the branches in the coming months!
What is a KIC Scanner?
A KIC Scanner is a walkup unit for scanning color and/or black and white material. The KIC Scanner can scan material up to 24” x 17”.
How do I use a KIC Scanner?
Scanning instructions are located alongside each KIC Scanning station. Also, follow the prompts on the touch panel.
How do I save scanned material?
You can save scanned material onto a USB drive (flash drive or memory stick). USB drives are for sale in the Library Copier Services office (PCL 1.102).
After logging in to the attached workstation, UT students, staff, and faculty can send the scanned images (all or selected) out via email.
KIC Scanners are NOT directly connected to any printers at this point in time.
Where are the KIC Scanners located?
Two KIC Scanners are located in PCL 2.400 (the PCL Periodicals Room) at the back of the room just past the photocopiers
