The University of Texas Libraries offer free, drop-in Library Classes on a variety of topics related to research, plagiarism, and cool new online tools that can you access and organize information on the web.  You don’t need to pre-register for these workshops — just stop by and join us!

Here’s a sampling of upcoming Library Classes:

Monday, February 2
Class: Search the Library Catalog
Time: 10:00 – 11:00 am
Location: PCL 1.124
Learn how to search the Library Catalog to find books, DVDs, CDs, journals and more in all the campus libraries, as well as how to renew and recall items, save searches and use other “my account” features.
Monday, February 2
Class: Introduction to the UT Libraries
Time: 1:00 – 2:00 pm
Location: PCL 1.124
Learn about the libraries on campus, and the services and research resources available to you.  This class, designed for new users of the UT Libraries, includes a brief introduction to the Library Catalog and article databases.
Tuesday, February 3
Class: Zotero – Manage Citations
Time: 1:00 – 2:00 pm
Location: PCL 1.124
Learn how to use this free, web-based tool to collect, manage and cite your sources.

Class: Get Started with Bloglines and Google Reader
Time: 3:00 – 4:00 pm
Location: PCL 1.124
Drowning in a sea of information? Bloglines and Google Reader are two tools to help you stay current with blogs and other news sources on the Web. 30 minute class followed by a 30 minute lab.
Wednesday, February 4
Class: Get Started with Google Docs
Time: 10:00 – 11:00 am
Location: PCL 1.124
Learn how to use Google Docs to share and collaboratively create documents, spreadsheets and slide presentations online. 30 minute class followed by a 30 minute lab.

Class: Be a Google Super Searcher II
Time: 2:00 – 3:30 pm
Location: PCL 1.124
This class provides a more in-depth exploration of new Web searching technologies.  Learn more about GoogleScholar, Google Language Tools, and Google Maps. Find out how to personalize Google and set up search alerts.

Watch Inauguration Coverage in PCL!

Looking for someplace to catch all the inauguration coverage on Tuesday?  We will have three large flat screen TVs set up featuring coverage from CNN and two local stations in the UFCU Student Learning Commons.

We plan to have the TVs set up and on by 10am and keep them on until about 4pm.  Stop by and join us for this historic event!
